Our May workshop invites you to explore the splendors of the Mackenzie region, including the breathtaking Mount Cook. This will be a journey of both daytime landscapes and nighttime stars, where participants will master the art of capturing the vast beauty of New Zealand's terrains and the mysteries of the cosmos above.

Venture across the diverse landscapes of the famed Mackenzie Basin, renowned worldwide for its exceptionally dark skies - an astrophotographer's dream, and its sweeping vistas - a landscape photographer's haven.

Join us on this exploration, capturing some of New Zealand's most iconic locations, from the celestial wonders of the night sky to the panoramic beauty of its daylit landscapes.

From the lush valleys and plains of the Mackenzie Basin to the towering peaks of Aoraki/Mt Cook, seize the opportunity to capture the contrasting beauty of New Zealand's night sky and its daytime horizons.


Overview:
This two-night journey offers an adventure into the New Zealand photography experience. Dive deep into both astrophotography and landscape photography, enhancing your skills from the basic foundations to more complex techniques.

Grasp the nuances of composition, master your camera settings, and harness the power of manual mode and shooting in RAW. Bring out the essence of your captures using the advanced capabilities of Lightroom and Photoshop.

Experience hands-on sessions with the latest specialized photography equipment, thanks to industry leaders like Sky-Watcher and Canon.

Further, the workshop extends an opportunity to immerse in advanced techniques, from tracking and stacking to multi-row panoramas and focus stacking, vital for both starry nights and sprawling landscapes.

A detailed itinerary will be sent out to all attendees in anticipation of this one-of-a-kind photography experience.

Transportation:

We handle all the transport during the workshop, but if you're landing in Christchurch and need a way to Twizel, we're here for you! Board our workshop van as we travel from Christchurch to the heart of Mackenzie. To maximize the experience, please aim for an early flight on Friday and a late departure on Sunday. We'll finalize the timings as we get closer to the workshop in early 2024.
