Our March photography workshop is set to explore the wonders of the night sky. This will be a journey of discovery and learning, where participants will master the art of capturing the awe-inspiring vistas of our cosmos through photography.

Get ready to traverse the incredibly diverse landscapes of the world-famous Mackenzie Country, internationally recognized for its exceptionally dark skies - an astrophotographer's paradise.

Join us on this nocturnal exploration, covering some of New Zealand's most iconic locations as we chase the celestial wonders of the night sky.

From the tranquil lakeside town of Tekapo to the wild mountain ranges of Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, seize the opportunity to capture the glory of the night sky in these breathtaking New Zealand locations.

Our adventure isn't limited to the night, we will also be scouting and shooting these spectacular landscapes throughout the day.

Overview
This two-night journey will be primarily focused on astrophotography. Here, you'll upgrade your photography skills, from the basics to more advanced shooting techniques.

Learn to improve your composition and master your camera settings, fully embracing the power of manual mode and shooting in RAW to create captivating images using the power of Lightroom and Photoshop.

We'll have some of the latest specialized astrophotography equipment for you to experiment with, courtesy of companies like Sky-Watcher and Canon.

The workshop will also provide the opportunity to delve into even more advanced photography techniques such as tracking, stacking, star trails, multi-row panoramas, focus stacking, focal blending, and composite blends, which are commonly used in our astrophotography workflows.

A comprehensive itinerary will be sent to all who book this astrophotography workshop.

Transportation:
If you're flying into Christchurch and need transportation to Lake Tekapo, worry not! You can hitch a ride with us in our workshop van. We're pleased to offer transportation for participants from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo and back after the workshop concludes.

To coordinate with our travel schedule, we kindly request that you arrange for an early flight arrival on Friday and a late departure on Sunday. This arrangement allows for a hassle-free journey, letting you fully indulge in the astrophotography experience. The exact times will be discussed closer to the workshop in early 2025.

Accommodation
We're delighted to have secured accommodation at the Cairns Alpine Lodges in Tekapo for our workshop. Combining traditional charm with modern comforts, these lodges offer both seclusion and a sense of community.

Each lodge, which has two rooms, boasts an open-plan kitchen, cosy fireplace, and a bathtub to relax in after a day of exploring.
Participants will have their own rooms to ensure quality sleep (when we have a chance to!)

"The Cairns" offers a snug retreat with a radiant atmosphere. Its large windows invite the surrounding Tekapo beauty indoors, creating a perfect setting for our astrophotography adventure. It's not just accommodation; it's an integral part of your journey.
